The Last Mile Design: From 3D Printing to Optimization Algorithms in the AEC Industry
The last Build Dubai meeting of 2020 was quite insightful, looking towards the future initiative and innovation in the architecture, engineering and construction industries.
Titled “The Last Mile Design: From 3D Printing to Optimization Algorithms”, Ramzi Jaber, partner at e.construct, discussed the possibilities of 3D technology and the pioneering projects in the region, including Office of the Future, 1000 Museum and an incubated start-up.
e.construct is an interdisciplinary engineering design firm that specializes in value engineering with disciplines in structural, geotechnical engineering, building services, among others. Ramzi is leading a division that creates software that uses optimization algorithms and machine learning to create high performing buildings, reducing the amount of raw materials used. One of their flagship projects includes structurally designing the first 3D concrete printed office in the region (Office of the Future). Building on this, e.construct invested and partnered with a French firm to launch a 6 axis robotic arm that prints 3D printed concrete called Concreative in Dubai.
